CANON 7 OF THE MICHIGAN CODE OF JUDICIAL CONDUCT
Canon 7 of the Michigan Code of Judicial Conduct governs how committees may raise funds in support of judicial candidates. Section B(2)(a) of Canon 7 stipulates, in part, "A candidate should not personally solicit or accept campaign funds...."
Canon 7 further stipulates that "...the Michigan Code of Judicial Conduct prohibits a judicial campaign committee from soliciting more than $100 per lawyer. If you are a lawyer, please regard this as informative and not a solicitation for more than $100."

However, a lawyer -- or any other legal individual -- may contribute, and the Committee to Elect Gene Hunt may accept, an unsolicited contribution up to the legal maximum of $2,000 per individual. Corporate checks cannot be accepted.
